Captain Sean P. Tortora, MS, USMS, is a Master Mariner with 25 years at sea, who commanded underway replenishment vessels, amongst other classes, and conducted over 2,000 UNREPs. He is a native of Long Island, New York, attended Chaminade High School, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree from SUNY Maritime College, served in Desert Storm/Sortie, Operation Noble Eagle – the response to 9/11, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Captain Toortora authored the textbook, study guide for Marine Fire Prevention, Firefighting, and Fire Safety, and is currently an Associate Professor at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
